Happy New Year to all

Wow, 2017 is in the rear view mirror and we are looking at 2018 through the windshield. We are always looking ahead in our travels, but for a moment I want to reflect.  This past year, we have traveled from the most southeastern corner of our great country (Key West) to the most northwestern corner (Alaska), to the most southwestern corner in San Diego.

During this year’s journey, we stopped 74 times  across America and Canada to visit and explore  averaging 5 days per visit.
We drove 21,342 miles and drank 2,029.5 gallons of diesel, for a total fuel cost  of $6,125.98, averaging  $2.99  per gallon at 10.4 mpg.
We boondocked/dry camped for 150 days and stayed 215 days with full hook-ups at campgrounds. Our nightly average cost was $16.66.
We spent $4,043.00 for repairs, $510 for propane refills, and $123.50 for gasoline for the generator.

All in all, this year, not counting tourist stuff, food, and T-shirts, our cost was $0.81 per mile.

Our 2017 journey exceeded all our dreams and expectations. We loved Alaska, and our stay of 4- 1/2 months was not long enough, so we are planning a return visit in the next 4 or 5 years. We are excited about the future and look forward to seeing ya’ll down the road.

Safe Travels, and we wish for a Happy, Healthy, and Prosperous New Year for all!

  1. George & Ann Marie, thank you for allowing us to go “with you” on your travels! It was wonderful! As we prepare for our retirement, we do not plan on solar power, nor much boondocking. Could you run your numbers replacing those days with the average of paid for sights? It will help us get an idea of what we are looking at in our future. Hope to see you all at our Kansas Rally this year. Mindy
