Well, as the Bigfoot waits in line to board the ship to go to Argentia, we think back to three years ago when we were in the same parking lot with Howie and Bernie waiting in line, trying to figure out what they were saying over the intercom and having to deal with some rude French folks from Quebec.
While the process is much the same four years ago. We were sitting in a similar parking lot waiting to board the Alaska ferry system with Virgil and Dolores on a seven segment tour of the south east of Alaska and all the way to Kodiak Island. Sometimes we just have to pinch ourselves.
We made these reservation 13 months ago May 2025 for this voyage. We plan on doing the rock much like we did Nova Scotia going to places that we haven’t been and avoiding the ones that we have been to, there’s a lot to see on the rock and hopefully while we won’t see it all, we’ll see as much as we can.
Bigfoot boarded the ferry on time and we were one of the first aboard so that meant we got to our state room and got to the dining room before the crowd. We had a good meal, then went to the bar for a few drinks talked to some folks and then headed to our room. Had a good peaceful quiet night. The seas were calm and we arrived on time.
Driving off the boat, Rick and Tammy are friends from the Skp resort in Wauchula were there to greet us. It was good to see some familiar faces and we enjoy the rest of the day with them at the at their Airbnb and then onto their house and they treated us to a terrific fish and chip dinner. While having dinner two locals that Rick and Tammy know were sharing some stories in the Irish gibberish that they use. I could only understand about one word in every five, it’s so funny to listen to them talk but that’s their normal. We’re happy to be on a rock. This place is awesome.
