One Heck of a Horseshoe

After we left Antelope Canyon, we drove just a few miles away from Page, downstream from the Glen Canyon Dam, to see the mighty Colorado River from a different viewpoint.

It is accessible via hiking a 1.5-mile round trip from the parking lot  down hill, which was sort of easy, but we knew the return trip wouldn’t be so fun. But as we looked around, we saw plenty of “old ” folks, so we knew we could do it ….. The park service is building a new trail that  zig zags down the hill, but it wouldn’t be completed till the summer.

As we arrived at the cliff (which is 4200 ft above sea level)… did I say cliff? Yep, holy cow, right to edge of this 1000 foot drop , Horseshoe Bend  and all its glory can be viewed from the steep cliff above.

Wow what a view, stupid people who sit on the rocks, or do hand stands for a picture……. We were good at least 5 feet away from the edge, and let me tell you, there was nothing between us and death but common sense.
