Thousand Trails Resort
So what is a Vortex? Sedona vortexes are thought to be swirling centers of energy that are conducive to healing, meditation and self-exploration. These are places where the earth seems especially alive with energy. Many people feel inspired, recharged or uplifted after visiting a vortex. So let’s go see and feel.
We drove north to Sedona to look at “Red Rock” country and go to one of four Vortex sites where the energy crackles most intensely.
The drive was awesome, driving through the Verde Valley the towering red rooks were getting closer by the mile. Just to the west of Sedona, we took a short 10 mile loop road through a couple of canyons amazed at the size, shapes, and the color of the mountains.
As we were aimlessly driving around with our eyes towards the sky, Ann Marie said to turn by the airport, which is on top of a big hill, so we can go check out the vortex.
We paid $3 to park, for a terrific view overlooking the mountains that surrounds the entire town of Sedona. Wow what a view. Then we asked the parking attendant where the vortex was. He said it was 0.6 mile hike down the side of the mountain, there are no signs as to where the Vortex is, but you know you are “there” when you feel the energy near the Mesquite trees that have spiral trunks and twisted branches.
So we started down the well marked and very rocky trail which was much more suited for our friend Virgil to hike, but we were up to the challenge!
The views to our left of the trail and down the hill were amazing. When we arrived to the split in the trail we turned right , as it wrapped around the mountain.
Then we noticed some twisted trees. We found the Vortex! There were many trees that had twisted trunks and branches. We sat there for awhile, feeling the energy emerge from mother earth beneath us, all the while looking at the amazing color and shapes of he mountains surrounding us.
After some time sitting there, I asked Ann Marie if she could feel the force, and she said NO. I was relieved because I didn’t feel anything either…. But the twisted trees, scenery, and the myth where kool !
My sister got married at the vortex and lived in Sedona for years. Marriage was not a good one. ?
Great photos of the Red Rocks. My favorite was Cathedral Rock.
