Moab is an “Earthy” type community with very nice locals. Even though there are so many tourists here, the locals have embraced it. We spent two days last week attending their Arts Festival with live music and had a great time. The weather was great as we sat in the shade in our lawn chairs listening to the local talent.
Today was H2O day. We have been at this boon-docking location for 10 days so it was time to dump our waste water and go fetch 30 gallons of fresh water. I’ll spare you the details, but it’s better than cutting grass…
After we did our chores, we grilled some steaks, then relaxed outside watching some tv under the awning.
While enjoying the weather outside, we heard a voice (which is rare as we are way the heck out here), “Excuse me , have you seen any lost cows through here?” We turned our heads, and there was a cowboy sitting on an Arabian horse! He rode up behind us without a sound. We talked for while, he served as an 11C in the Army in Vietnam . Told him all we have seen is some Pronghorn deer but no cows. After some time, he hit the trail looking to round-up his 16 lost cows. He left us his cell number in case we spot some of the runaways…
Earlier in the week, we saw an advertisement for a Rodeo in Spanish Valley, just south of Moab on Thursday-Saturday. So it was time to leave to go see this Rodeo. Another slice of Americana. So many proud Americans attending a western event that is woven through their local DNA.
Cowboys, Cowgirls, horses, bulls, calves, lassos, clown, and sheep.. Yep, sheep. No pictures just some short videos of the different events during the 2-1/2 hours of fun. We love America!
