Length -13 hours, 51 minutes Got up this morning and went to Whitehorse, about a 45 minute drive. Got to the RV Repair place and they had suspension bolts and can weld a new spring hanger on the frame. Yes ! But off course they are slammed with business with the “Long Weekend” coming up. But they can get us in Thursday at 8am. I told him we would move to a campground there in Whitehorse on Monday close to his shop. He told me to swing by so he could take a look at the suspession so he knows exactly what needs to be done. I said, “Roger that”…. The term “Long weekend in May” is a term we are seeing frequently in Canada. Many times it is in a statement something like “We are open from the long weekend in May until the long weekend in September.”. The term “Long weekend in May” is Victoria Day, a three day weekend kind of like our Memorial Day. This year it falls on May 20-22nd. The long weekend in September coincides with our Labor Day weekend. So RV traffic will pick up a bunch. We went downtown and had breakfast at a place called Burnt Toast Cafe. A cool little eclectic joint, but the food was just ok, not bad, but ok… When finished we then went to a RV Park very close to town, and made a reservation for Monday thru Thursday. Looks like a nice place. Whitehorse looks like a kool place to explore and we are excited to visit. Everything going to Alaska goes through Whitehorse. We were going to visit Whitehorse after we went to Skagway next week, but now it will be reversed. No big deal.
We drove home from Whitehorse on the ALCAN with new bolts in hand, ready to getrdun. After some finagling, like using a cut down tree for leverage, and using a ratchet strap to pull the axle back, I got the passenger side all fixed. Let me look at the other ones….well the driver-side rear leaf spring bolt was also broke in two, ****. So I started replacing it, and because the the rig was not on level ground, I used the hydraulics on the rig to pickup the rear of the rig, and when I did I lifted the rear axle off the ground and the front shackles on the center equalizer flipped down. **** again…. Well after 2/12 hours and some trials and tribulations I gotrdun. I told Ann Marie to get a bottle of wine and were going to get drunk, get naked, and jump into the lake. Well she got the wine……we sat in our front yard overlooking an amazing half frozen lake surrounded by snow capped mountains.
Awesome, it does not get any better than this. No geek Stats Today.
