What's around the corner?
Melbourne Beach, FL
Melbourne Beach, FL G: We never know what we will encounter when we start exploring. We started the day by taking a hike and exploring an island adjacent to the campground. Lots of birds, fisherman cleaning their catch, and more birds. I found a sword that both Brandon and Owen would be proud of, it was engraved by an old pirate, King Hayden R…..after, it protected us on our tour of the island, I left the sword to continue its mission of encouraging another’s imagination. After the hike we went home and picked up some water to drink.
We left home (again) with the metal detector and Ann Marie’s (AM) back pack (full of essentials, just in case…). We got to the beach and crossed over the sand dunes and were amazed at how pristine the beach looked. The ocean was turquoise as the waves were pounding the beach, all the while the sand was glistening from the sun. Oh Florida sunshine,,,,While AM was looking for shells I was combing the beach for lost treasures that were buried in the sand for thousands of years…I didn’t even find a bottle top. Back to “How-to” DVD to see how to use that stupid detector. We left the beach in search of somewhere to eat. Driving along rubber-necking at the sites, and all of a sudden I hear, “Korean Restaurant”. I immediately turned right into their parking lot, and proceeded to order and eat some very good Bulgogi, Short ribs with Kimchi, and all the goodies.. While we were eating they had a tourist map. I picked it up and noticed Patrick AFB right just 10 mile up the road, So off we go. We get to Patrick and go the RV park, all full, been full since October, and will be till March. Started chatting with the lady attendant, and I find out where she sends her “over-flow” RVs to. Merritt Island about 10 mile up the road. So off we go.
While en-route, we call, lady says sure, lots of spaces. Good we need a place, since Key West is totally booked. We get to Merritt Island (5 miles from Cape Canaveral), we chatted with the volunteer there at the gate and he says go ahead and look around and take your time. Well, it is a little piece of paradise! We got home after just going to the beach 8 hours later. So Thursday when we leave Melbourne beach, we will head north instead of south…. and then who knows whats around the corner.
