We did our normal routine this morning, ate breakfast, showered, but there was no watching the news or catching up on email. No services of any kind out here, off the grid, I guess. We did walk over to a lodge yesterday afternoon and asked them if we could buy some internet time from them, and for $2 cdn, we got enough for Ann Marie to send a facebook post out to let everyone know where we are. We departed about 9am, the four other RVs that were parked here last night have all left already. Today’s drive was a short one, only 2 1/2 hours. So we took it easy. It rained the whole way which really kept the wildlife bedded down. We saw a red fox crossing the road, 2 wood bison laying down, and a black bear running up a hill away from the road. Other than that, it was a pretty “gray” and wet drive.
We stopped to get fuel in Contact Creek. The cheapest fuel on the ALCAN so they claimed, and they were correct! We paid $1.13 per ltr, where as up the road we had paid $1.33 per ltr. Thank you.
We arrived here at the Downtown RV park and checked in, lots of spaces as we are still well ahead of the tourist boom that is fixin to hit at the end of the month. We went over to the visitor center, got some pamphlets and more information. The visitor center is right in the Sign Post Forest. http://www.watsonlake.ca/our-community/ sign-post-forest/. More on the Sign Post (because we are ready for this!) plus updated Geek stats tomorrow, if we have internet.
