Rome, NY
We have been back to Rome for 7 days staying at the Turning Stone RV Park. We decided to move the RV to my brother-in-laws cousins place out in the country, and we are going to stay with my sister for a while. The nursing home is just 4 blocks from her house so it much more convenient than driving 20 miles back to the campground after spend the night shift with my mom.
I love my sister, she is my favorite sister… more on that some other time.
Mom passed away at 0310, Saturday, June 11th, with me by her side holding her hand. Rest in Peace Mom, we all Love You.
We moved our RV to my Uncle’s and Aunt’s house so it could be set up for my youngest son and his family. They are arriving on Sunday. Jonathan is arriving Monday and Julie is arriving on Tuesday. All the kids will be here.
Mom had all of her funeral arrangements pre-planned. What a blessing. All we needed to do is pick out the color of flowers, (pink and purple of course), the sign in book and the date of the viewing and service.
JT Sprock of Strong-Burns & Sprock Funeral Home made everything so seamless and smooth.
The viewing on Tuesday was a celebration of Mom’s life. Family and friends all gathered to reminisce about what a great person she was. Even her paperboy from the 1970’s, Greg Turner, came from Syracuse to pay his respects. Wow. It is unfortunate that something like this has to happen so you see people who have been a part of your life.
On Wednesday the day was bright and sunny. We had her funeral mass at the Church she was baptized and married in. Father Hearn officiated. It was a very solemn occasion but filled with joy. Joey Fusco, our cousin read the scriptures and the songs sung by the cantor were beautiful.
At Saint Mary’s cemetery Mom was laid to rest next to Dad.
