Rolling with the “punches” (or tires)

25 March 2018

We left Ft Hauchuca at 0800, early for us, ready to begin our new adventure. Heading 320 miles  (longer than normal) north to the Petrified Forest and Painted desert. About one hour into our drive, while at a stop light, a resto mod 1963 Red Chevy truck pulled along side and said our rear tire was worn out. Our tire pressure monitor did not go off, so I knew it was still inflated.

We pulled into a Sears parking lot,  and yep, we lost our thread, right down the middle  of the tire. We were driving on the steel belts…WOW, we were lucky it did not blow and there was no damage..110 psi makes a BIG bang,

Within 15 minutes we had the tire changed with the spare, but now the search is on for a replacement.  We don’t feel comfortable driving without a spare tire. Did I say it was Sunday morning, Yep, about 0930.  When Sears auto opened at 1000 we check there, and they said, nothing that big….

We decided to stop at Davis Monthan AFB here in Tucson for a couple of days to replace the tire.

All is well.
