O' Canada, yes this is a rant Quebec City, Canada

Quebec City, Canada
G: Ok, so I’m confused… We love visiting Quebec, we think it is beautiful old city rich in history, which on our continent you rarely see. But today is Canada Day, equivalent to our Independence Day. Quebec does not celebrate Canada Day. No festivals, no nothing, because, well like I said it is confusing. Quebec day is the 24 of June (Saint Johns Days), Canada day the 1st of July … and the Founding of Quebec ~ July 3rd… 1 July is a National Holiday and everything.. all stores and Govt are shutdown (even Walmart)….But in Quebec City it is just another bustling day of tourists (but the Govt workers are off)….But on 24 Jun and 3 July there are plenty of celebrations in Quebec, that are not sponsored (read not paid for by Canada)…
I know I’m not helping, but I’m trying not be mad…mad about what you say? Well how did Quebec get such an Independence ? It is complicated, but part of it started when the King of England was afraid the French Canadians would join forces with the Americans during our revolution or seek their own independence from the Crown. So, the King granted Quebec, not only religious freedom, but also their French language and customs could remain, as long as they fought with the British against the Americans…
So like a southerner says about civil war, it was a war of Northern Aggression. Ok, I’m not trying to slant history here, because Quebec can stick its nose up in the air to it’s Country….Hear that Texas.. y’all have been talking about succeeding for ever. I told you I was confused.
The following is a snapshot of Quebec from an online article “Life in Quebec.Com”.
Quebec’s population is about 8.3 million, Quebec’s sales tax is 9.975 per cent, Quebec has some of the highest income tax rates in North America. For the first $42,000 earned, Quebec taxes at 16 per cent. Quebec pays entirely for or highly subsidizes the education and health care of its residents only to see many of them leave for other provinces. “(Canadians) just don’t want to come to Quebec and the province’s model is not being replicated in other jurisdictions,” It’s definitely not a success story.”
Its largest employer is the government, second by tourism.
Bernie should run for office here.
A: We had a good time on the bus tour seeing this beautiful city. Late lunch at Paris Cafe. Food wonderful and the owner was great. Good place to eat.
