Not the Sunrise I was Expecting Merritt Island, FL

Merritt Island, FL
G: One morning two days ago, while drinking coffee and looking out the rear window of the house, through the palm trees I could see a partial view of a beautiful sun rise. By the time I got my stuff together to go outside it was over, the day had officially begun. So this morning I was ready, coffee, camera, shoes, and clouds…****…
About 100 feet behind our house (ok..RV), is a good sized (long) wooden pier. You don’t want to touch the railing or sit down on the benches, because the seagulls have turned it “white” during their daily dive bombing exercises…I digressed. The pier juts out into to the Banana River, over looking Cape Canaveral’s rocket launch sites, and cruise ships coming and going.
Undeterred, at 0640 I went out to the pier (sunrise was 0708). To right of the pier and out in the distance I could see the glimmer of lights from the three cruise ships docked this morning at Port Canaveral. I waited and waited for the clouds to disperse and to see the sun in all its glory… ….. well, the clouds never broke. The clouds checkered the sky in cool formations of rolling cotton candy, but no sun. Just when I was ready to throw in the towel and see if AM was up yet (ha), I saw just beyond the end of the pier some dorsal fins breaking the surface of the water. I dashed (well alright remember “long pier”), I walked to the end of the pier to watch a pod of dolphins looking for breakfast. I guess their wives were sleeping too…
It was a cool sight, the dolphins were swimming in a large circle corralling fish, and it seemed like they each had their turn at the sushi buffet. At different times each dolphin would break quickly to the left or right splashing the surface of the water and I assume eating their fresh catch. I finished taking pictures earlier than I wanted, thinking to myself I should have taking a video… if my camera battery didn’t die.
