Northeast Harbor. Ba Ha Ba's Quiet Sister Northeast Harbor, ME

Northeast Harbor, ME
So this afternoon we headed to Northeast Bay. The locals call this the quiet side of the island. And it really is. Not many tourists. Our weather today is kinda gloomy and the sun we have had is gone.
When we reached Northeast Bay it was what you typically picture Maine harbors to look like. Boats bobbing in the water, kinda gloomy with a slight drizzle.
There was a boat was coming into the pier that George commented he would never bring our little pontoon boat into the pier that quickly. It is amazing how they pilot and maneuver these boats.
A truck from the Trenton Bridge Lobster Pound was off loading the boat. Curious me had to go and get educated about what they were bringing in.
Chris was wonderful in answering all my questions and explaining about Maine lobsters, Halibut and Jonas crabs. He pulled out a 3-1/2 lb male lobster. Oh my word. It was huge and beautiful. The pincer claw is smaller and the crusher claw can break your finger. He said the male was about 17 – 18 years old.
The Halibut was 55 lbs (at $8 per pound) and looks alot like flounder.
The Jonas crabs were more brown in color and he said they were more stringy. He was a great teacher!
I love getting the opportunity to learn about something I know nothing about.
Next stop the Southwest Bay.
