Motown and da MotorCity
Detroit, MI
Detroit, MI G: PHOTO_ID_L=motown.jpg] No trip to Detroit is complete with out visit to the MoTown Museum. Ann Marie grew up on and loves MoTown music, so this was a Museum she was excited to go to! (Yeup, I did good!). AM: The museum is small but well laid out, and our tour guide was awesome. She knew her MoTown history and helped educate us. We were able to relive the beginning of MoTown thru the artifacts. What a collection of memorabilia. Our tour guide threw out stories about not just Barry Gordon, but all of the early MoTown artists.
.
They would not allow photography in the museum which was too bad. I could of gotten alot of really cool pictures. At the end of the tour we were able to go into the “snakepit” which was the recording studio where all the magic happened. The “snakepit”was dubbed by the Funk Brothers because there were at least 12 to 15 microphone cords hanging from the ceiling. It looked like snakes hanging down. It was awesome to be standing in the same area as Dianna Ross, Stevie Wonder and countless others as they recorded their music. You could feel in the room the awesomeness that had been there. We met one couple from New Zealand visiting the states. He was a reporter who interviewed our tour guide after the tour so it could be broadcasted in New Zealand. Pretty cool. Good memories…
