Mothers Day

Mothers Day
Burlington, VT
Burlington, VT Well it’s been raining since we got here, but we decided to drive up to Burlington Vermont to see what’s going on up there and see Lake Champlain. Along the way we stopped in Middleberry at a restaurant called Sewards, that has been there for 50 years making cheese and milk. Ann Marie had pot roast and I had shepherds pie, both were real good, but the waitress sucked. She had a good old northern attitude, saying she was overworked and under paid and said the cook was an *******. So we left an appropriate tip. The rain started to breakup and the sun was poking out to the west on top of the Adirondack mountains, beautiful…. by the time we got the Burlington the weather front had passed and the sun was shining off Lake Champlain. We parked at the waterfront and saw the ferry service that goes across the lake, just a little too early, and it doesn’t begin until 19 June. So we layered our jackets with a brand new jacket in a rain jacket. The rain jacket was for the rain but it was for the wind as it was 46° and windy as all hell. But a little wind and cold doesn’t stop the Rambling Recks, as we continued to walk by the waters edge taking pictures, talking to the locals, and enjoying ourselves. From the waterfront we drove into the city market area which is up on college street and they have about a four block pedestrian path of nothing but buildings with eateries and shops. We got a coffee and a latte and bought a Canadian map so we could look at our trek as it continues to the north east into New Brunswick and over Nova Scotia. We chose a different route going home complete with back roads through farmers fields. It seemed like we had to put it in four-wheel-drive at times. It was awesome. Exactly the type of trip we like. Going thru beautiful countrysides, seeing old buildings and old farmhouses in the mountains. Just amazing.
