More of DC, day 7

1 July

Happy Canada Day!

So today is Monday and were are using our second day pass on the gray line tour of DC. I think this is going to be a double Decker bus as we go around and see the sights mainly that we have already seen. We should’ve taken this tour first when we first got here but instead took the Mount Vernon Arlington cemetery tour, (I failed to read the fine print), but that’s OK.

Yesterday was Sunday and it was a down day for us, we didn’t do any sightseeing, just recuperating so we will be ready for the week. Some of our days have been 15000 steps on the ole apple watch.. yep tired.

Tomorrow, Tuesday we will be coming into DC and doing mop up of the things that we didn’t see. Wednesday night we booked a nighttime tour to see all the monuments in the evening all lit up and Thursday we have a boat tour on the Potomac to view the National fireworks display.

One of our first bus stops was a photo op in front of the White House. So you know we were just at the White House, but we still decided to get off the bus and look around. We got to the fence in front of the White House looking around at all the wackos protesting when all of a sudden Secret Service agents started to blow their whistles and move the crowds away from the fence of the White House to the other side of Pennsylvania Avenue. We figured something was going on we noticed a couple show on top of the White House roof but we had to get back on the bus not knowing what was happening.

Or next stop was to the FDR Memorial. This memorial is much larger than we thought it was absolutely outstanding with many of the key phrases that FDR going to throw his tenure as president. But we’re going to the memorial we heard the whop whop whop whop of the helicopter and sure enough there goes marine one flight over the top of us and if you look closely you can see the President waving at us through the window ! (okay, I Photoshopped that).

Then we went out to the capital building but we’ve already been to the capital so we decided to use that time to go to Library of Congress and that was simply amazing the beautiful building in which was built the house every document that we’ve ever had a cursor is a fire in 1812 which we lost many but Thomas Jefferson came to the rescue with his own personal collection very cool.

We finish the day but going to the air and space Museum at the Smithsonian with already been to the large one by the airport this one head of the original planes and stuff such as the Wright brothers and Lindburg and in Amelia Earhart stuff very well done museum we enjoyed it it was becoming a long day.

We left through the Lafont metro station at about 6 PM high traffic time and we felt like cows in a cattle car as we pushed our way into the standing only subway car

As it was packed shoulder to shoulder chin to back basically through the whole ride but we made it got to the Pentagon hopped on the bus find a place to go eat enjoyed a good dinner and we were home by 8:30 so just a 14 hour day.
