Minn State Fair

Minn State Fair
Minneapolis, MN
Minneapolis, MN What to do in Minneapolis? Well, how about attending the second day of the State Fair! We were apart of the recording setting 141,000 attendees that day, and what a great time we had. We had a family affair, with Ann’s sister Joanne, her husband Jim, their daughter Julie, and grandson Ethan. We drove to a church parking lot and boarded a (free) city bus that went straight to the fair. No hassles with parking and we got there in a jiffy. The weather was a perfect 75 party cloudy day with a slight breeze, it could not have been better. After the obligatory selfies in front of the main gate, it was off to find Ms Martha’s sweet cookies. They have been a staple for 30 years and sell 1 million chocolate chip cookies per day at the state fair! One batch of cookies equates to 3000 cookies, that is alot of batches. In 12 days of the fair — last year Martha grossed well in excess of $2 million. Martha, who’s now a retired elementary school teacher, hires 400 people for these two weeks. She has 12 huge ovens that crank out 2,000 cookies a minute. They absolutely overfill a bucket of warm, gooey cookies, just a good as moms (sorry mom) and you can see for yourself our reaction the video.
We walked the fair, and ate our “fair” share of cookies, cinnamon buns, Italian sausage, turkey legs, and frys. We had a great day.
