Easy drive north to the land of 10k lakes. I think Wisconsin has some of the best roads in the union. One of the highlights, just to the left of I694 before SR10 was seeing a bald eagle perched in its huge nest atop of a tall old tree.
We arrived at Ann Marie’ Sister’s house about 2pm, backed into their driveway, and we will call it home for a few days. It was high 60’s and sunny today, so we spent some time on their deck visiting and catching up, before Karen served up a great pork roast out of the crock pot, brown gravy w/carrots, mashed taters, and corn on the cob, wow was that good eating and appreciated.
After dinner, we drove over to see our nephew’s house that they had remodeled, and over to their cabin site on the lake. Then we made our way around the lake to a restaurant, where their son ( and 100’s more) were attending a charity event to raise money for a friend that has testicular cancer. I had never seen so many prizes that were given/raffled away. It was a cool local event where friends and neighbors help each other.
Two very popular games played here at bars/restaurant are a “pull tab” and a “meat raffle”. The pull tab cost $2 with a chance to win up to $1000.00 by pulling three tabs from a card board ticket. Like a scratch off. The other is a meat raffle, where a lady walks around the restaurant with a basket of 30 (paper) numbers, selling each for $1 each. When all is sold the winner gets a package of fish, beef, or pork.
Nope, we won nothing……
