In the Lower 48 and chillin

9 -19 September 2017
Great Falls, MT
Malmstrom AFB FAMCAMP

We had no problems at the Sweet Grass, MT  border crossing. It is GREAT to be back in the lower 48!  We need to rest for a few days, we put down a lot of miles since we left Hyder, Alaska.

What a wonderful feeling crossing the border back to the land of the free and home of the brave.  Plus Malmstrom AFB is  home to  400+ nuclear missiles, I think some with the name  “Rocket Man” on it…..

Although we loved traveling in Canada, it is such a good feeling coming back home!  I have a really hard time crossing the border into Canada because the Canadian Custom Officers have so much power and you feel so helpless wondering if that particular custom officer checking your passport has had a good day or bad.  Will he ask you to open everything in your rig or will he barrage you with so many questions that are repeated over and over that you get frustrated.  Yes, I have a problem with them and George not so much.  I guess we watched too many Canadian programs about crossing the border and what the custom officers do.

So back to the good ole USA!!  We love coming to military installations.  It feels like we have come HOME.  It is such a good feeling knowing what types of facilities you will have and that military familiarity is wonderful.  I know that I can go to the commissary and get reasonably priced groceries, check out the PX/BX and get everything from shoes to plants.  The military life is wonderful.

We are here for a few days to do laundry, get groceries, rest and recoup and plan the next phase of our journey.

There is alot of Lewis and Clark History in the Great Falls area.

Life is good!
