Needing some “Day Care” time, we met up with our Sigsbee Shuffler friends from Key West at Beer Belly’s  “Adult Day Care”, next to the big RV Show tent.
The “Sigsbee ” is the reference to all that have camped on the Sigsbee Navy Base, in Key West. “Shuffler” refers to the rotation from dry camp to full hook-ups on the base. So every morning there are Sigsbee Rvers “shuffling”  from one camp site to another.

All of us made a decision (for a variety of reasons) to explore the left coast this winter and chill out in the desert and not Key West.  Don’t get me wrong, for us, like many, KW is (was) great, we enjoyed last winter there, and the folks we met. But there is a lot of this great country to experience and explore, so in due time we will return to the Conch Republic.

The eleven of us had a great time at Day Care,  sharing our adventures, past and present, and  our wintering plans.  Some even told some long tales……… When the sun went down, our Adult Care closed, like all the other outside business here at Q.  So happy hour(s) ended at 6pm. That’s ok, we had a blast though and it was great seeing everyone!

Sunrise this morning was amazing!

So the day has finally come. I bought them over a year ago and haven’t needed them. So with 93k miles, I finally changed my brake pads (front and rear) on the BFT.  With the desert as my driveway,  I removed the front wheel and upon inspection, the pads where still only half worn, but by god, I was determined to change them.

When I removed the caliper I noticed the lower mounting pin was stuck in the caliper mounting bracket. I tried to free it up with a pipe wrench and oil, but to no avail. So I tied that caliper to the frame temporarily, reinstalled the wheel, and continue the task of the remaining brakes. No problems with the other calipers. I called the dealer and they said they would have them the next day. (NAPA was 2 days). Got the new part and the BFT can now stop on the “hair of a gnats butt”.

The next day we all met up at Silly Al’s for pizza and beer. Stan and Marylin left for Yuma already, Gary, Susie, Jerry, and Lucy are leaving for San Diego and Mexico  after the Super Bowl on Monday. Again, we had a great time hanging out and getting my weekly pizza fix. The 2 – 1/2 hours flew by like no other.

The weather has been great. Mid 80’s during the day, low 50s to mid 40s at night. In the sun today, our outdoor thermostat reach over 100. But it is dry heat…….

All the sun has been great for our solar system. We live our “normal” day-to-day life out here in the desert just as we would do in a campground with full hook-ups. We are loving it.

Tonight (tomorrow morning) is the super blood moon lunar eclipse. So we got up at 0430 and we sat outside the rig with Virgil and Delores. Virgil hooked up his gas fire pit as we  tried to stay warm in the 50 degree desert. It was like watching grass grow (yes I still remember what it looks like). We had fun like always, none the less.
