AM: So off we go to do some exploring. As we were driving along we saw a sign for a Farmer Market so of course we had to stop. I picked up some beautiful eggplant, zucchini and summer squash. Also picked up some olive foccacia bread, yum. Eggplant parm is in our future.
First stop DeSoto National Park. Unfortunately it was raining so we did not get to explore all of it.
Next stop lunch at Riverhouse Reef & Grill on the Manatee river. Excellent food. G had the Lobster Pot and it was fantastic. We were able to enjoy our late lunch with a beautiful view of the river.
Then off to Drum Circle Distillery in Sarasota. We took a tour of the facility and I was impressed that the tour began with the owner speaking to us giving the history of how he got started. The rum was really good too. G liked the Spiced rum and I like the Silver. Needless to say we had to buy some to bring home!
I like this area of Florida. You have to drive to get anywhere but that is part of our journey!
