Whitehorse traveling southeast
The last three days have been good. We had full hookups, and Ann Marie finished up all the laundry, cleaned/vacuumed inside, and stocked up the fridge and cabinets for our journey back to the lower 48. The last time we were in Whitehorse there was ice in the river ! Thankfully its warmer now.
We also washed the trailer and the BFT, it need it badly, there was mud everywhere… Also got some maintenance done, watered the batteries, lubricated the slide arms, rinsed the black tank, changed the air filter in the BFT, and a few other checks and inspections.
Ann Marie had just finished her bout with a cold and sniffles, so yesterday was my turn in the sick barrel, so I just took it easy…
Got on the road at 1000 this morning, I feel much better and ready to hit the Eastbound ALCAN and the Cassier Hwy. It was 36 degrees in Whitehorse this morning, but the SUN was shinning!
The ALCAN between Whitehorse and Watson Lake is pretty good. We were able to travel about 55mph, so we made good time.
The landscape is still amazing, everywhere we look it seems like we are saying “wow, look at that”.
Just before the south turn onto Hwy 37, The Cassier Hwy, there were 2 gas stations, so we had 1/2 tank and it was time to refuel.
Pull into the first station……..the pumps do not work, go to the next station, and the roof covering the pumps had a huge sign that stated “LOW CLEARANCE-13 FEET” and had red tape hanging from it… so no fuel here, we like our air conditioners on top of our house , thank you. (We are 13’4″). So we proceed another 40 miles to Good Hope Lake, and their pumps are only open during the week 8-5pm, today is Saturday. I guess business is good.
Okay, so we traveled another 5 miles, and found a pull-off on the side of the road and stopped for the night.
We have three 5 gallon cans of fuel in the bed of the truck in case we don’t make it to Dease Lake……….
