Edmonton, Canada
Edmonton, Canada Temp- H 54, L 34 Partly Cloudy/Sunny/ A llittle Rain
Hwy 16 W- Saskatoon to Edmonton
The drive to Edmonton was much like the drive to Saskatoon. The good news it was a good road, just spotty rain, partly sunny, partly cloudy, lots of prairie, lots of trains, lots of grain silos, lots of grain elevators…. OK, I’m not complaining, but this part of the drive is like watching a VHS tape, and fast forwarding a movie. ok, let me get back to it. But seriously, I couldn’t help but think of all those Ukrainians arriving in this area with the dream of establishing a homestead. While we are traveling through in good weather, you can just imagine how brutal the winters were. God bless them.
We decided to dry camp at a Walmart. Once we parked, we went into the store and asked the manager’s permission to park overnight. Her response was, “are you staying more than one week?” We couldn’t help but laugh and told her we just wanted to overnight. She said of course, but during the summer Walmart’s parking lot is full of campers staying up to a week and they (Walmart) tries to evict them after a week.
She also said to expect Security to knock on our door early in the morning to see how long we were staying… note to self.. put out the motion light so I can see the security guard in the morning.. Our Trip Stats for Geeks
